As a very early stage tester of Twhirl, I really should have congratulated Marco that Twhirl was acquired by Seesmic (another coming-from-nowhere web app) so fast, congrats Marco! But, Alert Thingy, a FriendFeed AIR client, really work very hard, it integrated twitter few days ago, that give me a reason to drop Twhirl. As a response, Twhirl's upcoming version 0.7.9 also integrates FriendFeed, but there still has some slight differences between these two clients. Twhirl supports multi-twitter-account login in separate windows, so Twhirl-FriendFeed keeps to occupy a window, that doubles the memory usage of Twirl. Alert Thingy make it happened in one window under separate tabs, it's clean, easy to navigate, less memory usage, +1! Twhirl supports font-family and font-size selection while Alert Thingy doesn't, but the latter still have the font size easily recognized even rendering multi-byte characters, say Chinese characters. That's an EVEN. Alert Thingy supports twitter in a friendfeed-way, actually I find it's not that easy to use "@" and "d" lingo in it just like in Twhirl. Alert Thingy -1. Finally, these two client draws an even in total, it seems I still can't make up my mind, but I think I could focus on acquiring information stream via friendfeed in Alert Thingy, and focus on communicating via twitter in Twhirl, or, I just stick myself to my mobile screen on the move.
